Paintings from Catherine Henke’s exhibition, “olhos fechados / memorias diarias” at the Galeria Municipal de Montemor-o-Novo.  Photography & video by Tiago Fróis.

Catherine Henke, a visual artist originally from Geneva, Switzerland chose to live and work in Montemor-o-Novo, Portugal. This radical change in her living conditions encouraged her to learn about rural life and the practice of organic agriculture. She has developed knowledge related to the rhythms of nature and to an ecological consciousness. Her art practice comprises varying uses of numerous techniques, such as painting, sculpture, ceramic and mixed media installation.

Tiago Fróis works in both photography and the plastic arts. He is currently president of the board of the Associação Oficinas do Convento, where he works as artistic, production and programming director with a focus on the integrated social development of the community. Fróis creates sound devices in the laboratory at the Convento de S. Francisco, as well as doing collaborative projects with others. He is a member of the collective diu3Estu.
